Dr Gary Christopher

researcher – writer – lecturer

I’m an academic based at Swansea University’s Centre for Innovative Ageing, and I’m passionate about studying how our emotions and thinking abilities change as we get older. My main focus is finding ways to help people age well by using the power of nostalgia.

One of the ways I do this is by encouraging nostalgic conversations that bring back fond memories, which can improve the well-being of those living with dementia. I also explore how digital technology can create engaging experiences that stimulate multiple senses, benefiting older adults.

In addition to my research, I play an active role in the British Society of Gerontology, where I sit on the national executive committee. I’m also a co-Director of the Dementia Health Integration Team within the Bristol Health Partners Academic Health Science Centre. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to publish several papers and books that have been reviewed by other experts in the field.

I’m excited to share my knowledge and findings with you, and together, we can explore ways to enhance the ageing experience. Welcome to my website, where we bridge the gap between research and everyday life.
